Abstract
Hepatitis E is water-borne viral hepatitis similar to hepatitis A and an endemic disease. Most cases of hepatitis E in industrialized countries are described in immigrants and visitors of endemic areas or are thought to be spread zoonotically(commonly swine).
Hepatitis E is self-limited. But it can be followed by acute liver failure. Fulminant hepatitis is more likely in those who are pregnant or have preexisting liver disease. The diagnosis of hepatitis E is based upon the detection of its genome in serum or feces by PCR or the antibody(IgM) of hepatitis E virus. We report a case of oliguric acute renal failure associated with hepatitis E.
